The “2nd Workshop on New and Traditional Security Issues” of the EU-GRASP project was held from 23 to 25 February 2011 at the School of Global Studies of the University of Gothenburg.
The workshop aimed at presenting some of the preliminary research results of the EU-GRASP project in regard to the involvement of the EU in new and traditional security issues.
On this occasion, the participating researchers discussed reports on the case studies that have been conducted during the year 2010 on the issues of Regional Conflicts, WMDs, Terrorism, Human Rights, Energy Security and Climate Change and Migration by members of the consortium. These reports will allow for a comparison of EU’s role in peace and security across the different security issues and will pave the way for a transversal analysis taking into account the levels of cooperation the EU takes part in.
The workshop also offered the occasion for convening a meeting of the international advisory board of EU-GRASP as well as holding a management committee meeting to discuss the future steps of the project.
